Presidential Debate to Include Third Party Candidates

In an effort to expand the presidential debate, democracynow.org will re-broadcast this evening's debate,  pausing after Governor Romney and President Obama's responses to include responses from three third party candidates.  Green party nominee, Jill Stein, Justice party nominee Rocky Anderson and Constitution Party nominee, Virgil Goode, will all participate in the expanded debate.  The candidates had been barred from participating in the actual debate due to rules set forth by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates.  According to a Green Party press statement, presidential  candidate Dr. Jill Stein was arrested Tuesday afternoon for trying to enter the Hofstra University debate forum with her running mate, Cheri Honkala.  She is expected to be present for Democracy Now's expanded debate.
The expanded debate coverage has gained traction on Twitter with #expandthedebate becoming popular among disillusioned voters.  Debate coverage will be aired on www.democracynow.org Wednesday, October 17 8-10 a.m. EDT.
